TerraGo is proud to be working with our partner Ameresco and the great City of Philadelphia on the Philadelphia Streetlight Improvement Project (PSIP), which is being recognized at the 2024 Smart Cities Connect event on May 7 in Raleigh with a Smart 20 Award for TerraGo’s deployment and community engagement software. The Smart 20 Awards honor the twenty most transformative smart city projects each year.  

PSIP is converting 130,000 high pressure sodium streetlights into a network of more efficient, longer-lasting LED lights. By utilizing the TerraGo deployment software, Ameresco is able to perform the deployment faster thus accelerating energy, maintenance and carbon savings.  In fact, the project has the potential to cut more municipal carbon emissions than any other energy efficiency project, making it a key strategy in the City’s Municipal Energy Master Plan.  

The residents and businesses in Philadelphia will also benefit greatly from the smart LED deployment with better visibility, safety, reliability and faster lighting replacement times.   By providing the TerraGo web-based Community Map, citizens can see which lights have been converted, where crews are working and when the lights in their neighborhood will be converted, improving community awareness, engagement and satisfaction with this important program.
