Brighter, Greener, Smarter: Chicago’s Lighting Revolution

The City of Chicago, in partnership with TerraGo Technologies and Ameresco, implemented the Chicago Smart Lighting Program—a large-scale modernization project that replaced over 280,000 outdated streetlights with high-efficiency, networked LED lights managed through TerraGo’s smart streetlight operations software. This initiative enhanced nighttime visibility, improved operational efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, and is projected to save taxpayers $100 million in electricity over ten years.
