How the Air Force is Using GeoPDF Technology to Help Fight a Global Pandemic

There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that these are troubling and uncertain times to be living in. We all have our own part to play in helping get through this global pandemic, whether it’s simply staying home, or putting your own life at risk by working to nurse people back to health in hospitals. The US Air Force is doing their part to aid in ending this crisis by providing geospatial tools to their commanders in order to communicate crucial information to help protect lives and make better informed decisions.

Using TerraGo’s GeoPDF technology, the Air Force is able to use a common, easily accessible PDF as a robust tool, capable of holding layers of complex data. By looking at regions affected by the virus using the map viewer tool, they can see where positive cases are located, and even show how it spread over time. Getting this information in real-time is vital to assessing the pandemic, and making decisions on how to proceed with missions while controlling the threat of exposure.

In a situation where we depend on so many brave men and women like those in the Air Force, TerraGo is proud to play our part in helping make their jobs just a little bit easier.
